Dutch photographer Benny van der Plank frequently travels to Hong Kong to work on projects. His projects focus on social and sustainability issues in urban environments. He received a bachelor’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning at the Breda University of Applied Sciences in 2004. He has been working on major urban renewal projects in Amsterdam for more than ten years. At the same time, he studied at the Photo Academy in Amsterdam. He has been selected as a GUP Magazine Fresh Eyes Talent 2021.
In this latest project 'Aftermath Hong Kong Protests' he photographed the consequences of the protests in Hong Kong at the end of 2019. By then, clashes between police and protesters had become more frequent and increasingly violent. The clashes have left an open wound on daily life in Hong Kong.
